MY HOME LAYOUT

For many years now after accumulating my trains, I always wanted to have a home layout. So after much needed upgrades to my farm house I
decided this was going to happen. Having a 10 x 12 room with a closet, this was certainly ideal for my layout. Plans were executed on graph page
with each square representing 6 inches. My Layout is strictly DC POWER with mostly double track system. My intent once completed is to have
MVAR members come over to run trains on it.
So I came up with General Layout, Layout Staging, Main Level, Second Level, and Upper Level. Having a previous layout when I was in
Kitchener Ontario I had built my first helix and this layout would certainly require one to get to different levels. The helix is partially inside that
closet in order to make it function. The rest of the structure was easy to construct.
Fast forward I put down all my track, then ran test train around it to ensure no derailments would happen. After this was successful, I soldered all
the joints. My layout consists a switching yard, small intermodal yard, farm land and grain elevator amongst other things. So began my less known
area after putting down webbing and is weathering. I decided to go with Hydrocal product as I wish to have a smooth area surface for farmland.
So I have been a member of MVAR for several years now helping out at club events. I sent some photos of my layout to our club Webmaster, who
mentioned this is great subject matter for the current run of the Website. He told me to put my photos onto a USB drive and bring it to him as I
was invited for supper. After supper I took him to my place where he captured a bunch of photos. In the future I will have lighted buildings, trees,
rocks and details.
