TRAINS IN CARLETON PLACE

CP 8474 on WYE to Smiths Falls. Photo Don McQueen Early photo of Hotel by the station, still standing in 2021. Photo Bruce Chapman Junction in Carleton Place. The tracks on the left is to Smiths Falls. The tracks on right to the CPR Mainline to Chalk River and beyond. Photo Bruce Chapman Early photo of the Roundhouse workers. The roundhouse actually closed in 1936 due to duplication of service in nearby Smiths Falls. The Wool Growers actually occupy the facilities today since 1941. Photo by Colin Churcher Hi. I was viewing your history page. There is a photo on the last page by Colin Churcher of Roundhouse workers. I was wondering if you knew anything about the picture? or about the workers? My grandfather William (Bill) Heddleston worked for the CPR in CarletonPlace as did his father James and his son Jack. I am sending you a photo I have of My grandfather with, I'm guessing people he worked with on the CPR. My grandfather in the photo I am sending you is 3rd person from left with the "caboose" cap. He worked on the caboose, as well as on the bridge crew. His dad was a foreman. I was very curious about the large man with a shirt and sweater. This man appears to be in both photos, I'm thinking he was possibly James Heddleston ( the Heddleston name was originally Huddleston). Would greatly appreciate any thoughts. Your photos do bring back memories, had a big train village as a child, and my uncle John Rodney had a train hobby store in the west end of Ottawa/Kanata., Debby - March 2021 If anyone has any inputs on the request, Please email me so I can respond to this person.
