5802 Project Information Tour September 14 2024 held at Railway Museum of Eastern Ontario
The railroading industry encompasses a wide range of interest from the real RR companies pounding the
rails moving goods and services to the forgotten real rail cars of the past that no longer operational. So a
Museum is setup to display the forgotten stuff of which we have a Fantastic one located at Railway Museum
of Eastern Ontario.
Many of the passenger coaches on this site were brought sometime after 1982 when the Museum purchased
the land from the Canadian National Railway after their closing the line in 1979. The intention was to provide
a small excursion to Harrow Smith but could not get the right-a-way to cross the bascule bridge.
Fast forward, a Member of the Museum John Weir had this vision. We have this rail car #5802 available which
is emptied of its seats and would be a great way of showing the public a diorama of the lands around 1955
which was operated by the Canadian Northern Railway. After much discussion, others got involved and it was
adopted. A former volunteer of the Museum Steve Hunter had layout plans for the model era.
So after some planning sessions and the layout plan of the area, it was decided that a HO model scale would be
appropriate for one side of the rail car. In 2024, it has taken 6 years to get a decent layout, which is constantly
being updated. So Model Railroading now enters the dynamics of the situation.
The following are highlights some of our MVAR members experienced as a informational secession provided by
the volunteers on this project. Gilbert, Bruce and Lloyd THANK YOU.
Note: Some photos are taken of photos and Presentation Power Point by Bruce of the developments.
